St. Louis Composting acquires Kansas City compost facility

St. Louis Composting, Inc., headquartered in Valley Park, Missouri, has acquired Belton, Missouri-based Lawn-Corps, a family-owned and operated company that provides yard waste collection and compost services to the Kansas City region. The company says the acquisition will leverage St. Louis Composting’s equipment and increase the volumes of finished mulch and compost.

“Lawn-Corps is a great addition to our company and firms up our commitment to Kansas City, expanding our reach in the Midwest,” St. Louis Composting President Patrick Geraty says. “We will increase operational and production efficiencies as well as the amounts of compost, mulch and soil blend resources being supplied to the region.”

St. Louis Composting acquired Lawn-Corps through its operating company, Missouri-based Organic Resource Management. The company says it will grow by $1.5 million with the acquisition.

Lawn-Corps is a 37-acre yard waste processing facility that collects and processes yard waste into "high-grade products," such as compost and organically dyed mulches. Established in 1992, Lawn-Corps, a state-permitted facility, provides approximately 3,500 Kansas City households with yard waste collection services. St. Louis Composting says the company will continue to operate under its name and staff of eight. 

“St. Louis Composting wants to provide Kansas City with the same high-end soil mix that the St. Louis region receives,” Geraty says. “This new partnership will allow us to do that and expand our customer base, ultimately promoting the many benefits of compost to a greater volume of Missourians.”

St. Louis Composting maintains a four-acre transfer station and a 10-acre composting and retail facility in St. Louis. It also operates a 52-acre composting and retail facility in Belleville, Illinois.
