Steri-Green LLC launched as an earth friendly medical waste disposal and treatment center in Orlando, Florida. The company placed its headquarters in Orlando because of the city’s cutting-edge technology programs. According to a Steri-Green news release, other locations in the Southeast will be considered as it plans to expand.
Steri-Green reports that there have not been many options to dispose of medical waste, and the most common methods of medical waste disposal have been incineration or autoclave. Steri-Green developed the capability to dispose of medical waste by providing a disposal method without risk of contamination, according to a Steri-Green news release. The company’s methods can help to eliminate known health hazards as well as reduce pollution.
“Not often does an opportunity come along for a company to provide a competitive service for businesses and at the same time provide a community service by reducing harmful pollution and foster the wellbeing of our planet,” says Ron Hankins, CEO of Steri-Green. “We also have the capabilities to recycle high-grade plastics that have gone through our process.”
Steri-Green has partnered with SteriMed that holds the patent on the machines used to process medical waste. The company reports that the machines are approved for use across the U.S., Europe and Asia.
