A medical waste disposal company will be moving its facility from North Salt Lake to Tooele County, Utah, a report by KUTV says. The Division of Air Quality and the Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control approved the air-quality and solid waste permits for Lake Forest, Illinois-based Stericycle’s facility Sept. 1.
The company has proposed to construct, own and operate an incinerator facility that will accept hospital, medical and infectious waste, the report says.
Each incinerator at the facility is designed to process 2,050 pounds of hospital, medical and infectious waste each per hour, with a total hourly processing volume of 4,100 pounds.
The facility is expected to operate 24 hours per day and will receive packaged medical waste, the report says.
