The Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) has issued a request for proposals (RFP) seeking bids from providers of household hazardous waste (HHW) collection and processing services.
The Grove City, Ohio-based agency, which is responsible for waste and recycling services in parts of Columbus, Ohio, and numerous surrounding communities, says it wants to “continue providing residents with convenient access to properly dispose of their HHW while operating a program that is cost-effective for SWACO, ideally reducing HHW program costs.”
In its RFP, SWACO says it is seeking to continue: providing at least one permanent location where residents can drop off HHW; conducting two to four mobile collection events per year, and; processing HHW that has been collected by four or fewer partnering communities as part of a pilot “hub and spoke” collection model.
SWACO has scheduled a virtual pre-submission meeting on Thursday, Dec. 18, at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time it says is designed to provide an overview of the project.
More information on the project, including downloadable RFP documents, can be found on the SWACO website.
Sealed proposals are due and must be received by SWACO no later than 1:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, Jan. 16, 2026.
