The city of Shenandoah, Texas, has approved a contract with Phoenix-based solid waste company Republic Services to continue to provide solid waste and recycling services for residents, Community Impact reports.
The city’s director of public works presented the city with a recommendation after receiving four bids as of June 4.
Republic Services was chosen as the company with the lowest monthly price, totaling $23.49 per household per month, compared with the city’s current price of $25.38.

As of May, 645 of the city’s 1,252 customers are subscribed to recycling services, according to council documents. However, under the Republic Services contract, all households will receive recycling services, according to the report.
The city will see a five-year savings of nearly $494,000 under the new plan, according to meeting materials.
Republic’s new contract will go into effect Oct. 1.
