The United States Composting Council (USCC) has announced the results of its annual board of directors' election. The board has elected Travis Bahnsen and Lorrie Loder-Rossiter as compost manufacturer board members, effective 2023.
Bahnsen and Loder-Rossiter will be joining the executive committee and board members: Eileen Banyra of Community Compost Co., Kerhonkson, New York; Meredith Danberg-Ficarelli of Common Ground Compost, New York; Neil Edgar of Edgar & Associates Inc., Sacramento, California; Scott Gamble of WM, Houston; Gary Gittere of McGill Premium Compost, Elliot Schneider of the city of St. Peters Earth Centre, St. Peters, Missouri; Melissa Tashjian of Compost Crusader, St. Francis, Wisconsin; and Samantha Winkle of Waste Connections, Toronto.
Additionally, the USCC board of directors reelected Pierce Louis of Dirt Hugger, Dallesport, Washington, who served on the board for five years as president. Jennifer Trent of Iowa Waste Reduction Center-UNI, Cedar Falls, Iowa, was reelected as an affiliate board member and as vice president of the board. Other reelected members include Jeff Ziegenbein of Inland Empire Utilities Agency, Chino, California, as treasurer and Ryan Cooper of Rubicon, Lexington, Kentucky, as secretary.
Robert Yost of A-1 Organics, Eaton, Colorado, is retiring from his board position after dedicating more than three decades to the industry. Along with terming off the USCC board of directors, Yost will be retiring in 2023 from his role at A-1 Organics. Joe DiNorscia of Laurel Valley Soils, Landenberg, Pennsylvania, is also retiring from the board.
“I would just like to thank Bob Yost and Joe DiNorscia for their dedication and commitment to the industry,” says Frank Franciosi, executive director of the USCC. “Bob has been instrumental in developing, modernizing and strengthening the Seal of Testing Assurance program in addition to his involvement with the Colorado State Chapter, Colorado Composting Council. As past treasurer, Joe was pivotal in implementing good financial practices. Joe has been a pleasure to work with over the last decade and is a consistent and respected spokesperson for the compost industry.”
The new board and officers will be introduced during its members' meeting at Compost2023 at 5 p.m. Jan. 24.
