The US Composting Council (USCC) has opened registration for its COMPOST2026 conference, which takes place Feb. 2-5, 2026, in Sacramento, California.

The USCC’s annual conference and tradeshow has provided insights into the composting and organics recycling industries since its formation in 1991. With a record attendance of 1,500 industry professionals at its COMPOST2025 event in Phoenix, the USCC anticipates the 2026 meeting, themed “The Golden State of Composting,” will further break attendance records.

"Sacramento has been a hub of activity for the compost industry in California as the state capitol and source of groundbreaking legislation and policy that make the state the leader in compost industry infrastructure development," USCC Executive Director Linda Norris-Waldt says. "Being here for our 35th annual conference will help our members and industry allies from across the country to understand the issues that have driven this frontline state in compost industry development."

The four-day meeting also will include preconference programming, seven workshops and a full-day facility tour of composting and food waste processing operations in Sacramento County.

The USCC says it has received an “unprecedented” number of presentation abstracts. The 2026 keynote speaker is Chris Dyer, CEO of PeopleG2, who the USCC says will discuss emerging business challenges facing the compost industry at large over the next several years.

The full conference program will be released at a later date.

“The COMPOST2026 program is more than a schedule,” says Teri Sorg-McManamon, USCC director of professional development. “It’s a blueprint for connection, curiosity and change within our industry. We’re thrilled to unveil the conversations and trends that will take place in Sacramento.”
