Vision RNG LLC, Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, has announced a renewable natural gas (RNG) agreement with the Laurel Ridge Landfill, a subsidiary of Waste Connections Inc., which is based in Woodlands, Texas.

Owned by Laurel Ridge Landfill, Corbin, Kentucky, the project will use 1,800 cubic feet per minute of landfill gas (LFG) to produce 450,000 metric million British thermal units (MMBtu) of RNG annually that will be injected into a nearby natural gas transmission pipeline. This RNG will be used by various customers across the U.S. for transportation fuel and other sustainable purposes.

“We are delighted to be partnered with Waste Connections on this project,” Vision RNG CEO Bill Johnson says. “As our portfolio of RNG projects continues to expand, we are making a real impact on reducing methane emissions, capturing that wasted greenhouse gas and putting it to good use as renewable natural gas.”

Construction is scheduled to finish by the end of 2024.

Waste Connections also has LFG-to-RNG facilities at other locations, including Meadowbranch Landfill in Athens, Tennessee, which produces enough RNG to services about 3,400 homes per year. Waste Connections Canada has partnered with Enbridge Gas Co. on a LFG-to-RNG nearing completion in Chatham-Kent, Canada. When finished, that facility should produce enough annually to warm 18,000 homes.
