VLS Environmental Solutions, headquartered in Houston, has acquired Industrial Waste Utilization (IWU) and AA Sydcol—both providers of hazardous and nonhazardous waste solutions.
The acquisition aims to strengthen VLS’ commitment to serving clients across Arizona, California and the broader West Coast, including Baja, Mexico.
“By welcoming [IWU] and AA Sydcol into the VLS family, we are reinforcing our commitment to the West Coast with a full-service sustainability-driven platform available to our clients,” VLS CEO John Magee says. “This acquisition allows us to deliver deeper capabilities, stronger logistics and sustainable outcomes that help our customers meet today's compliance needs while preparing for tomorrow's challenges.”
With established facilities in Montclair, California, and Yuma, Arizona, IWU and AA Sydcol will add to VLS' existing operations in San Diego; Quartzsite, Arizona; Tijuana, Mexico; and Phoenix, forming a comprehensive platform for industrial, government and commercial customers, according to the company.
IWU’s 10-day hazardous waste transfer facility in Montclair, California, provides proximity to Los Angeles and broader southern California, one of the nation's largest manufacturing hubs. In Yuma, Arizona, AA Sydcol’s facility features storage and processing technologies with more than 25 years of experience in nonhazardous treatment.
“Joining forces with VLS is an exciting opportunity for IWU and AA Sydcol,” IWU and AA Sydcol President Charles Templer says. “Our shared commitment to safety, compliance and customer service will drive innovation and deliver exceptional value to our clients.”
According to VLS, the acquisition represents a step forward for the company’s strategy, building full-service solutions for clients through safe, compliant and sustainable waste solutions.
“VLS is building for the future,” VLS President Keith Cordesman says. “This acquisition demonstrates our dedication to the circular economy and to delivering innovative solutions.”
