Waga Energy, a France-based company specializing in landfill gas-to-renewable natural gas (RNG) conversion, has appointed four new members to its board of directors, including three directors and one observer.
The new members include:
- Luc Rémont, appointed chairman of the board of directors;
- Neil H. Smith, appointed EQT representative;
- Maï de La Rochefordière, appointed independent director; and
- Vikram Dhawan, appointed as observer.
Rémont began his career in 1993 as an engineer at the French Defense Procurement Agency. He has held various positions at the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry; Merrill Lynch; and Schneider Electric France, most recently serving as chairman and CEO of EDF, a France-based company specializing in low-carbon electricity. After leaving EDF in May 2025, he has been developing activities in the fields of decarbonization technologies, electricity and digital, Waga Energy says.
Smith has more than 35 years of experience in the global energy, renewables and infrastructure sectors. He most recently served as CEO of Vanguard Renewables, a Weston, Massachusetts-based company specializing in converting organic materials into RNG and low-carbon fertilizer. Previously, he served as a founding member and CEO of InterGen Inc. Smith currently serves as chairman of Leeward Energy and director at Capital Power.
de La Rochefordière is an independent director and strategic advisor with 30 years of expertise in finance, governance and international development. She brings extensive experience in financing business units and private equity, Waga Energy says. During her tenure at Orange Group, headquartered in France, she held senior leadership roles covering investment and financing, global expansion and investor relations.
Dhawan has extensive experience in investment, corporate finance and in-depth knowledge of the U.S. market, Waga Energy says.
The additions bring the total composition of the board to 10 members and two observers. The board also has acknowledged the resignations of Dominique Gruson, Sara Huda and Girish Sankar.
“I am absolutely delighted to welcome to the board of directors of our company such an amazing panel of top-tier specialists,” Mathieu Lefebvre, CEO of Waga Energy, says. “Their expertise will play a decisive role in helping our management team accelerating the company’s growth and its positive contribution to the environment.”
