Waste Connections Inc., The Woodlands, Texas, and Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd., Toronto, have announced the early termination of the applicable waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976, as amended, in connection with their previously announced agreement to merge in an all-stock transaction. Early termination of the waiting period under the HSR Act satisfies one of the conditions to the closing of the pending combination.
The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2016 and remains subject to other customary closing conditions, including the approval of both companies' shareholders.
