Waste Management, Houston, has acquired the residential and commercial waste and recycling collection business of Greeley, Colorado-based Northern Colorado Disposal, The Tribune reported.
The acquisition will affect residential and commercial customers in the towns of Greeley, Eaton, Windsor, Pierce and Ault.
As part of the acquisition, Waste Management is onboarding staff from Northern Colorado Disposal.
"Our local team is focused on delivering safe, reliable services to our customers and we are proud to keep the community clean and green," Todd Noe, district manager for Waste Management of Colorado, said in a news release. "I am pleased to welcome drivers, technicians and operations staff from Northern Colorado Disposal to the Waste Management family."
The news comes on the heels of Northern Colorado Disposal disclosing to its customers that it is exiting the waste space after more than 27 years. In a letter to residents, Northern Colorado Disposal owners Don and Carole Frei said they were closing to pursue other opportunities.
“We are confident (Waste Management) will deliver great service and show you how much they value you as a customer,” the letter stated. “Thanks again for your friendship and loyalty over the years and the opportunity to serve you.”
