Waste Pro, Longwood, Florida, has announced the appointment of Leigh Thomas as director of accounting in the company’s corporate office.
Thomas earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Central Florida in Orlando and has more than 20 years of experience in the accounting industry. Before joining Waste Pro, she spent more than a decade with Industrial Container Services LLC, a manufacturing company headquartered in Maitland, Florida.
As regional controller at Industrial Container Services, she helped grow the eastern region from $30 million with five facilities to $70 million with 11 facilities through acquisitions. As part of the centralization of the accounting department, she was promoted to corporate controller in 2015, a role in where she managed the day-to-day functions of the accounting team for $320 million U.S. operations.
In her new role as director of accounting, Thomas will lead the corporate accounts payable and fixed assets teams and develop new projects alongside chief accounting officer Sharon Tolopka.
“I’m looking forward to learning about the company and meeting everyone and contributing to the company’s overall success,” Thomas says.
