WCA Waste opens CNG station in Florida

WCA Waste Corp., a Houston-based nonhazardous solid waste services company, has launched its first public compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station in Gainesville, Florida. The new station located on the I-75 corridor is open to the public 24/7 and can accommodate a variety of natural gas vehicles ranging in size from passenger cars to heavy-duty trucks, according to WCA.

Natural gas vehicles show an average reduction in ozone-forming emissions of 80 percent compared to gasoline vehicles, according to WCA.

“We are proud to offer the residents and businesses of Florida a cleaner fuel alternative in transportation to reduce greenhouse emissions and improve air quality throughout the region,” says Bob Shires, WCA regional vice president. “WCA embraces new opportunities and methods to advance our sustainability efforts in the community. The opening of this CNG station is the next step at ensuring we keep the environment of central Florida clean and beautiful for future generations.”

The address of the CNG fueling station, which accepts all major credit cards and fleet cards, is at 5002 SW 41st Blvd.

WCA is a vertically integrated nonhazardous solid waste management company providing waste collection, transfer, material processing and disposal services. The company has expanded since its formation in 2000 under the guidance of a veteran management team with solid waste collection and disposal operations in 10 states.
