Weltec Biopower, a biogas plant developer based in Vechta, Germany, has acquired Ad Agro, a biogas plant manufacturer in Vechta.
“Through the merger of Ad Agro and Weltec, we establish promising synergies in the entire value chain of biogas and biomethane,” says Jens Albartus, director of Weltec.
Ad Agro was established as BD Agro Renewables by Big Dutchman Group in 2006. Director Uwe Heider took over operations in 2012, and the company began operating under the name Ad Agro Systems GmbH & Co. KG.
“Ad Agro was faced with the decision of implementing a suitable succession strategy,” Heider says. “The goal was to perpetuate the successful use of the expertise and experience gained in almost 200 biogas projects. The profile of Ad Agro fitted snugly in Weltec Biopower’s spectrum of products and services.”
According to a news release from Weltec, the acquisition of Ad Agro complements Weltec’s spectrum of products and services. The acquisition expands Weltec’s market position through custom-tailored plant development of technically matured plants.
“We guarantee Ad Agro customers continuity in the business relationship, and with our Weltec Group, we will be able to offer an even broader range of products and services,” Albartus says. “Our team of process engineers, biologists, service engineers and other specialists boasts a wealth of experience gained in more than 350 biogas plants that we have planned and built.”
Albartus expects the acquisition to expand Weltec’s international market position also, saying the biogas landscape will play a large role in reducing carbon emissions globally in the future.
