The White County Board of Commissioners has approved a special use permit for the operation of a transfer station and recycling center in the county’s industrial park.
According to the county’s community and economic development department, based in Cleveland, Georgia, a special use permit for a construction and demolition (C&D) transfer station and recycling center was approved, contingent on permitting from the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD).
The department says the applicant who proposed the facility is named Jacob Wiley. According to an article published by Now Habersham, Wiley told the board that the facility will primarily handle C&D material, though he would like to offer plastic and carboard recycling as well, with glass recycling to be added later.
The new facility will be located near the entrance to the White County Transfer Station, which currently accepts bagged and loose household garbage along with minor construction debris.
