Brooklyn, New York-based Filco Carting Corp. has been awarded a $25 million collection contract with the city of Peterson, New Jersey.
As reported by Tapinto.net, the decision follows a series of complaints from both Paterson residents and city council members concerning Fairfield, New Jersey-based Roselle Disposal, the current garbage company, failing to meet the scheduled deadlines for solid waste collection.

The contract for the new company, effective from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31, 2025, includes options for two additional one-year extensions, contingent on funding availability and renewal terms. Paterson’s director of the Department of Public Works (DPW) told the city council that after reviewing 11 vendor bids, the city received proposals from three companies for solid waste collection.
Tapinto.net reports that Rodriguez recommended awarding the contract to Filco. As part of the contract, the hauler will be paid $12.8 million for the first 27 months, $6 million for the first option year and $6.2 million for the final year of the five-year deal.
